ALL ABOUT THE OILS

Mar 30, 2016

Coconut oil, argan oil, this oil, that oil, have you ever wonder what the fuss on oils is all about? Which ones actually work for your hair? Well we’re here to help. Below you’ll find the top 3 best hair oils that can make a drastic change in your hair so it look as luscious as is can be. The healthier the hair the better the blend with our Laced Hair extensions.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is magical. It does so many incredible things for your hair like act as a heat protectant, repairs hair damage + breakage, prevents hair loss, and promotes hair growth. It’s of the most effective hair treatments because it retains moisture for much longer compared to other treatments. It’ll keep your hair nourished, soft, give more elasticity, and overall less prone to breakage. Another great part about it is that it’s so inexpensive, just go to your local Trader Joe’s and get a batch there for only $5.99 (what?!)

How to use: If you have oily hair, don’t apply to the roots. But if you have a dry scalp, this is great for it. Remove some from the jar, use your hands to warm up and melt the coconut oil, this way it applies easier and more evenly (works as a great moisturizer too!). Apply generously throughout your hair and leave it on for longer than 30 minutes. You can leave it on overnight just apply a hair cap over your head (if you don’t have one, use a plastic bag). This will keep the heat released from your scalp in to promote the hair mask qualities. Wash with a natural shampoo and repeat 1-4 a month for best results.

Argan Oil

Argan oil (A.K.A. “Moroccan oil”) comes from the extracted nuts from a tree in Morocco. I know, I would’ve never guessed either. It can do wonders for your hair. Just a few drops and you can protect it from heat, nourish + moisturize your hair, reduce dryness, calm frizziness, and finally have your hair soft and manageable. Now you can understand why it’s sometimes called “liquid gold!” Since you use a lot less than coconut oil, you can use it more frequently. Also if you have very oily hair, this may be a great option.

How to use: Separate your hair into a few sections to apply evenly. Apply a few drops to your palm, rub your hand together and distribute onto damp or dry hair, avoiding the roots. Our favorites are Morrocan Oil + Josie Maran’s Argan Oil

Castor Oil

Lastly, Castor oil is an age old beauty treatment it’s been used for topical acne treatment and other skin conditions (dandruff!) But it does wonders to prevent hair loss + promotes hair growth immensely. There are tons of testimonials saying that castor oil has promoted hair growth 3-5x.It has vital qualities qualities such as vitamin E, minerals, and proteins.

How to use: Since castor oil is very thick try to mix it with something like coconut oil or olive for an easier application. Use this mixture as a scalp treatment, put on shower cap and if possible leave it on overnight. Wash as usual the next morning and repeat weekly or as needed.

Our faves:  Now Solutions Castor Oil + Tropic Isle Living

LASTLY,

Keep in mind that oils are greasy, use them sparingly otherwise you risk leaving your hair greasy after washing. Always try to wash your hair with natural,non-chemical shampoo after your oil treatments. Changes don’t happen overnight BUT with consistent, long-term use you can have healthy, manageable, gorgeous long hair! Let us know if you try any of these out and what you think. We love sharing with you and hearing your feedback.
