If you haven’t heard yet, perms are back! The once dreaded beauty school service has made a major resurgence in 2025, but it’s not your mom’s sky high 80’s curls this time.
For decades, women have been sacrificing their curls in favor of wearing their hair straight to meet the ever-changing beauty standard, but in the past decade we’ve seen something beautiful occur. Millions of women have put down the heat and embraced their natural curls, and much of it is thanks to the natural hair movement’s tireless efforts to diversify the beauty standard.
Laced Hair joined the wave (pun intended) in 2025 with the release of Waved by Laced, our gently textured hair extensions, and we’ve never looked back.
In fact, curly hair has gained so much traction that the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction, with many opting to perm their naturally straight or wavy hair to their desired texture, with Gen Z and K-pop trendsetters to thank for reviving this once antiquated service.
The perms of 2025 offer a whole new perspective, with Janine Jarman of Curl Cult leading the pack. Long gone are the chemically fried, brittle strands you know and hate. Janine has collaborated with teams of talented chemists to develop simple, clean formulas to deliver clients their desired texture, all without damaging hair health or the environment!
