Do's & Don'ts of Ombré Hair

Do's & Don'ts of Ombré Hair

Nov 9, 2018

Autumn has had us falling in love with the beautiful melting of colors in ombré hair! When done correctly this trend offers a blend from one color to the next. As is true with any color change, you need to be prepared to know what you should do to help ensure the best results. These are the do's and don'ts for ombré!

DO- Match Your Skin Tone

Any time you are changing your color it is important to consider your skin tone. While one color may look great on one person, it could look completely different on someone else. Choosing colors that complement your skin tone can enhance your overall appearance!

DONT- Change Your Base Drastically

A mild change can be done, but ideally you want to keep your base natural or close to. This helps with maintenance and ensures you have a good blend in your ombré color.

DO- Use More Variety on Drastic Blondes

Having a smooth blend of two colors can be tricky, especially when it's a heavier contrast like you may see in more drastic blonde ombré. Having more variety can help with the transition. In Laced's #2/10/16 (Autumn Ombré), we used three shades to blend instead of just two which creates a smoother look in color.

DONT- Skip Maintenance

Taking care of your hair is always going to help improve your results with any hair service! Use color-safe shampoo, keep your hair moisturized, and schedule touch-ups as needed.

DO- Use a Professional

Professionals are the pros for a reason. They have licensing and certification that makes them qualified to do this work, and they are the ones who know how to get the best results. A professional can help get you the hair you want!
