Achieve #HairGoals with this 20 Day Laced Hair Advent Calendar

Dec 6, 2020

It’s December, and the holidays are officially in full swing! With our 20 day Laced Hair advent calendar, your hair will be thriving by the time you ring in the new year.

Day 1: Learn how to get the perfect holiday curls

Achieving the perfect curls for your holiday styles should be as important as your wish list this season. Here are a few tips to get those #swoonworthy curls. Research the curling iron you use. It is important to have one that is good quality and will produce the best curls possible. Another important factor is what you use in your hair. Your hair needs product in it in order to grip to the curling iron properly. A volumizer and heat protectant would be two of the best products to use. Next, use light hairspray and use it before curling then brush it through. Start curl from top & gradually go down. Make sure to brush out those curls at the end for a more wavy look.

Day 2: Create a personalized hair care routine

To achieve the perfect hair this month while participating in the Laced Hair advent calendar, you have to put in some work. Most times, great hair doesn’t come along all on its own; it’s earned. The first thing to do is determine whether your hair leans more to the oily side or the dry side. When you have figured that out, it is important to research what hair products work best with what type of hair. It is also important to note that someone with oilier hair might need to wash their hair more than someone who has drier hair. Also, remember to make sure the products you are buying don’t have any unnecessary chemicals in them like sulfate and parabens.

Day 3: Research more about the importance of scalp care

Scalp care is a crucial part of hair care. It’s just as important as skin care. Take today to educate yourself about it. One essential part of scalp care is exfoliating. We often talk about how important it is to exfoliate your face, but your scalp is just as important. If you have drier skin, exfoliating two or three times a week is necessary. Massaging your head at least once a week for 5 to 10 minutes will help wake up the blood vessels on your scalp that carry oxygen and nutrients to your hair. You might even want to consider getting a professional scalp massage for maximum care.

Day 4: Try to reduce using heat on your hair

Take today to give your hair a break. Skip the heat styling today and wear your natural hair. Too much heat can also damage your hair and create breakage. If you really want your hair to thrive, try taking multiple days off of heat.

Day 5: Use the right brush

Today, find a brush that meets your hair’s needs. At lacedhair.com, we carry two brushes that areextensions safe and are also not as hard on your hair. They are perfect for hand tied weft extensions and tape-in hair extensions. Often times, wet and dry brushes work the best because they cause the least amount of damage to your hair. Day 6: Try turning down the heat in the shower

Did you know that hot water in the shower can damage your hair? Lukewarm water is actually said to be the best temperature to wash your hair at. Using hot water can cause stress to your hair which makes it frizzy, brittle and dry in the long run. Another thing it does is that it strips your hair of natural oils that your hair needs to stay healthy. It also dries out your scalp. So when you hop in the shower today, try to turn down the heat.

Day 7: Skip the ponytail today

Sometimes it’s nice to be able to just put your hair up and not worry about it. However, tight ponytails are actually damaging your hair. Elastic hair ties grip your hair too tight and can lead to damage to your hair follicles. So before you slick your hair back into a ponytail, remember it’s nice to give your hair a break from it every once in a while. Give it a break today for your Laced Hair advent calendar.

Day 8: Sleep on a silk pillowcase

One of the amazing hair benefits that come from sleeping on a silk pillowcase is it reduces frizz in your hair. The lack of friction silk pillowcases have means you will wake up with less bedhead. Another hair pro to silk pillowcases would be that they keep your hair hydrated while you are sleeping. Cotton pillowcases are more porous, so they absorb the natural oils in your hair more. Silk doesn’t which keeps your hair hydrated and healthy. Put that silk pillowcase on your Christmas wish list, and you’ll begin to see the difference.

Day 9: Trim your split ends

Hair naturally begins to split at about 3 months. However, depending on your hair type, you might want to go a shorter amount of time between trimming split ends. Find a routine that works for you and your hair.

Day 10: Learn a new hairstyle

Check out one of our old blog posts of 3 holiday hairstyles and learn one of the 3 today for the Laced Hair advent calendar. Learning new things activates your brain and gets it moving. It’s also fun to express yourself through your hairstyles.

Day 11: Switch to sulfate and paraben free hair products

Sulfate does have the ability to get rid of excess oil and dirt in hair, but it is considered to be a culprit of hair loss and thinning hair. Also, sulfate and paraben in shampoos can ruin your hair extensions like hand tied weft extensions and tape-in hair extensions. Parabens have been linked to skin irritations and increased estrogen which can cause breast cancer, so why take the risk? Hop on over to the salon today to switch up your hair products.

Day 12: Try a DIY hair mask

Hair masks can help reduce frizz, promote growth and lessen dandruff. Making a DIY hair mask every so often is essential on your road to healthy hair. Here are 7 DIY hair masks to try: https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/beauty/hair/g29627145/diy-hair-masks/

Day 13: Skip the blow dryer today

Once again, heat isn’t healthy for your hair. So today, let your hair air dry instead of blow dry. It will help keep the natural oils and nutrients in your hair and promote healthy hair.

Day 14: Try not to use shampoo so often

Did you know that you can shampoo your hair too much? Washing your hair everyday or even every other day will strip your hair of the nutrients it needs to stay conditioned and healthy. This can even lead to brittleness and breakage. Skip the shampoo today and maybe even tomorrow as well.

Day 15: Condition the right way

Conditioner is essential for healthy hair and that is why we chose to put this in our Laced Hair advent calendar. However, it is important to know where to apply the conditioner and where not to. Do not apply conditioner to your scalp. Only apply conditioner to the tips of your hair. When you are finished applying, make sure to rinse it thoroughly.

Day 16: Make using a heat protectant a habit

A good heat protectant is a game changer when it comes to hair. Take today to invest in one. Heat protectant will keep your hair from being damaged if you are using heat. Whenever you use a heated styling tool, always use a heat protectant.

Day 17: Use oil to keep the ends of your hydrated

The ends of the hair are always the part of the hair that gets dry. This is because the closer to the scalp, the closer you are to the nutrients your scalp creates. Investing in an oil for your hair like Olaplex, is a life changer and will always keep your ends hydrated the way they need to be.

Day 18: Drink more water

Drinking enough water each day supports hair growth. Another thing it can also help with is prevent split ends, brittle hair and a dry scalp. So today, grab your water bottle and start drinking for your #dreamhair.

Day 19: Try using a cotton t-shirt to dry your hair

Unlike a thick towel, a cotton t-shirt will help absorb water from the hair without causing frizz. It allows the water to sink into the t-shirt without messing up the hair. This is definitely a hair hack worth trying!

Day 20: Lay off the heat today and braid your hair

It’s Christmas morning, so let’s lay off the heat today! Putting your hair in a nice braid will help you lay off the heat, but will also look super cute with Christmas pajamas. Relax today and let your hair relax as well.

Just think, only 20 days to better hair! Try this Laced Hair advent calendar, and you can have the #dreamhair you’ve always wanted. For more content like this, follow @lacedhairextensions on Instagram.
