We often get a lot of questions about how to properly care for extensions. Taking care of your extensions is crucial for helping your hair to last. Poor care can cause many issues to occur with the hair resulting in needing new hair much sooner. Follow these tips we have to help make sure your hair is always at it's best!
Washing
Before washing, thoroughly brush hair to remove any tangles. Gently hand wash with sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo and lukewarm water. Never rub the ends of the hair together while washing. Repeat as needed, then add conditioner and leave in for 5 minutes. Avoid getting conditioner on the bond of the hair extensions. Be sure to completely rinse away shampoo and conditioner.
Drying
Gently squeeze out the excess water and blot with a cotton towel. Use a large wide tooth comb to detangle and straighten while extensions are damp.
Styling
Laced Hair can be styled using a boar's hair bristle brush, Flat iron, or curling iron. Brush regularly (while brushing, hold base of scalp where the extensions adhere to the natural hair with opposite hand).
Products
Like mentioned before use only sulfate-free and paraben-free products. Use salon grade products, meaning you purchased them from your salon. Not all products are extension compatible. Make sure to consult with your stylist on the best products to use on your extensions. Avoid products containing alcohol, oil or ethanol. These ingredients can leave your hair dry and frizzy.
Use spray leave-in-conditioner or moisturizer on extensions to keep from tangling or drying out.
Sleeping
Braid extensions before sleeping or bed. Sleep on silk pillow. Watch this video for more instructions on how to sleep in your extensions!
Vacation
During vacation and the summer season Laced Hair wants you to rock your long locks. We do want you to please use caution with applying and using sunscreen. Some sunscreens, including spray sunscreen have chemicals that can cause discoloration to the hair. We do suggest a vegan or all natural non aerosol sunscreen to prevent discoloration. We also recommend following our swim care instructions for further vacation care.

I found it helpful when you suggested using sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo and lukewarm water when washing hair extensions. As you said, you must never run the ends of the hair. My plan is to shop for clip-in hair extensions since I want to change my hairstyle and have long hair. It is important for me to ensure that my extension would look natural, so I will do all your care and washing tips. https://passionweaveandbraid.com/hair-extensions-clip
Thanks for these tips on how to care for hair extensions. I am thinking about getting some for my hair soon. I will have to remember to use only sulfate-free products like you suggested. http://www.adeviaspa.com/hair-services
